A jury in Florida awarded $12.3 million to a 72-year-old woman who received negligent care at a nursing home which resulted in severe bedsores and resulting hospitalization. The jury found Life Care Center of Orlando was 87 percent responsible for the plaintiff’s injuries. Her bedsores were so severe that one had gone all the way to the bone causing an infection and one was found to be infected with E. Coli.
