Zostavax

When Zostavax was introduced in 2006, the Merck & Co. product was the only shingles approved vaccine in the U.S. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recommends people over 60 receive a shingles vaccine but Zostavax is shown to be effective in about 50% of patients and lasts approximately five years. There have been an increased number of lawsuit filings with the complaint that patients who have received the vaccine have suffered from neurological injuries. Some plaintiffs allege the vaccine has caused complications such as brain damage, fatal liver failure, blindness, and paralysis.
