The New Mexico state House recently approved a bill that would take away coverage for hospitals under the state’s Medical Malpractice Act, thus exposing them to larger damage awards. The Bill, which is aimed at controlling the finances of the New Mexico patient compensation fund, narrowly passed by one vote and now will go to the state Senate for their consideration.
